Geospatial Web3D Search with Dynamic Queries

Example files

The techniques described in the paper are demonstrated within the virtual Earth at planet-earth.org.

Working with planet-earth is asking a bit much of you though - it requires plenty of bandwidth, a fast 3D card, and great patience. Some more directly relevant files are linked below, to try to make it easier for you to play with the dynamic query sliders and see how effective they can be. We'll upload more over the next couple of days, but these should adequately demonstrate the techniques we've been developing.

Also, here's another copy of the paper.

These examples require the BS Contact VRML browser.

Here's the Perth example with the globe and terrain removed. This is just the GeoURL database expressed in 3D, plus a date range slider that filters the GeoURL tags according to their creation dates.
You can move around by clicking and dragging in the scene. You can move the date query filter by dragging its title bar, or minimise it by clicking the little sqaure; then maximise again by clicking the triangle. To filter the yellow GeoURL tags, drag the date sliders around.

Here's an example of a multi-element a slider with working disclosure widgets. This is not wired up to search anything - it's just demonstrating the UI implementation.
